Includes lunch break approx 30 mins and 2 tea breaks approx 15 mins each.

Pre-requisite Knowledge/Experience

F1 - Introduction to Aviation Heritage

Location

Any BAPC organisation with suitable facilities

Class Size

Maximum of four (4) volunteers per session

Applicability

This module is only for volunteers who have had no engineering background at all.

Course Aim

To provide selected volunteers with a basic knowledge of hand tools and engineering terminolgy.

Content

Health & Safety Implications
Identify common hand tools, to include:
a. Ball Pein Hammer
b. Centre Punch
c. Junior Hacksaw
d. Hand File
e. Pin Punch
f. Fitters Square
g. Spring Dividers
Demonstrate the correct use of common hand tools.
Measuring devices
Engineering drawing
Rivets and Fasteners
Materials

Assessment

Assessment will be carried out by means of classroom based practical exercises and a question paper containing Multiple Choice Questions. The pass mark shall be 80%.
