Pre-requisite Knowledge/Experience

Module F1 Introduction to Aviation Heritage

Location

Any BAPC organisation with suitable facilities

Class Size

Maximum of eight (8) volunteers per session

Applicability

All volunteers in the Aviation Heritage sector irrespective whether experienced or not.

Course Aim

To provide all volunteers with the necessary knowledge to identify potential safety issues with aviation exhibits. To provide all volunteers with an understanding of the hazards associated with the preparations for exhibiting aircraft and associated aviation items.

General safety precautions on aircraft/exhibits with particular regard to:

  • Explosive Operated Aircraft systems
  • Groundlocks & Safety Devices
  • Fuel Systems
  • Armaments
  • Electrical Systems
  • LOX/Oxygen Systems
  • Fire extinguisher & Suppresion Systems
  • High Pressure Air & Nitrogen Systems
  • Hydraulic Systems
  • Bungs & Blanks
  • Disater Planning

How to determine the precautions applicable to a particular exhibit
The general precautions necessary when putting exhibits on display.

Assessment

Assessment will be carried out by means of a question paper containing Multiple Choice Questions. The pass mark shall be 80%.

All volunteers may choose whether or not to undergo assessment. Anyone opting for the package will incur a £5.00 registration fee payable to City & Guilds.
