Includes lunch break approx 30 mins and 2 tea breaks approx 15 mins each.

Pre-requisite Knowledge/Experience

1.Module F1 - Introduction to Aviation Heritage

2.Module B1 - Making your Aircraft Safe

Any BAPC Organisation with suitable facilities

Class Size

Maximum of eight (8) volunteers per session

Applicability

All volunteers in the Aviation Heritage sector

Course Aim

To provide volunteers with the necessary knowledge to take part in jacking & lifting operations without endangering himself or others.

Content

Health & Safety Implications
Documentation
Recognise different types of lifting jack
Positioning of jacks for different types of lifting operation
Maintenance procedures
Levelling aircraft
Positioning trestles
Reconise towing equipment
Towing procedures
Crane lifting regulations
Before use checks on slings, ropes, chains etc.
Hand signals for use during crane lifts
Lifting procedures
Fork lift safety

Assessment

Assessment will be carried out by means classroom practical exercises and a question paper containing Multiple Choice Questions. The pass mark shall be 80%.

All volunteers may choose whether or not to undergo assessment. Anyone opting for the package will incur a £5.00 registration fee payable to City & Guilds.
