1.Module F1 - Introduction to Aviation Heritage

2.Module C1 - Aircraft Structures

Maximum of four (4) volunteers per session

Applicability

All volunteers in the Aviation Heritage sector

Course Aim

To provide volunteers with some basic skills in the use of simple hand tools. To give them an understanding of riveting techniques and an appreciation of working with metals

Content

Health & Safety
Documentation
Use of basic hand tools
Interpretation of engineering drawings
Marking out metal
Filing & shaping
Drilling Holes
Rivet forming & removal
Conservation issues

Assessment

Assessment will be carried out by means of workshop based practical exercises and a question paper containing Multiple Choice Questions. The pass mark shall be 80%.

All volunteers may choose whether or not to undergo assessment. Anyone opting for the package will incur a £5.00 registration fee payable to City & Guilds
