The Team
A team of five staff administer, design and run the project from IWM Duxford. The instructional staff are all aviation people with excellent training backgrounds and credentials.
Brian Barker - Project Manager
Joined the Royal Air Force as an apprentice Airframe Fitter in 1966. Served on Vulcan BMk2 aircraft in UK and Cyprus. In 1977 selected to become an Aircraft Servicing Chief on Victor K2 aircraft, travelled worldwide and saw service in the Falklands War. Subsequently moved to the RAF Directorate of Ground Training with responsibility for the introduction and evaluation of training courses. In 1989 moved to RAF Strike Command as a training manager. Left the RAF in 1994 and moved into civilian aviation as the Operations Manager/Director of an aviation consultancy. Most recently I formed my own company providing training and recruitment advice to various companies.
Diane Barwick - Project Administrator
Prior to joining the Imperial War Museum I was a manager with a major retail company. I have spent the last 4 years at the Museum working in a variety of administrative posts. I am the primary contact for all advice and information regarding the Training Initiative.
Keith Trigg - Training Officer
Joined the Royal Air Force as an apprentice Airframe Fitter and served for 25 years. During this time I served as the Supervisor and an Instructor at the Chinook Maintenance School. Then moved to Australia and served for 7 years as a Reservist in Royal Australian Air Force. Immediately prior to joining the team I spent 10 years at Imperial War Museum Duxford, 6 years as a Conservation Officer and 4 years as Assistant Conservation Manager.
Graham Britnell - Training Officer
Joined the Royal Air Force as an Airframe Engineering Technician in 1978 and served for a total of 28 years. In that time I have worked on VC10s, Hunters, Buccaneers, Phantoms and gathered over twelve years experience of the Tornado aircraft spanning the environments of training, operational exercises and worldwide detachments which have included areas of conflict. It is pleasing to note that all these aircraft can now be found in many collections and museums around the world.
Darren Martin - Volunteer Training Officer
I joined the Royal Air Force 1985 as a Weapons Technician and am still a serving member. I am based at RAF Marham in Norfolk where I am the Senior Training Manager on a Tornado Squadron. I have had an almost life long involvement with aviation heritage and in addition to being a member of Duxford Aviation Society I have also been a volunteer at Southend Historic Aircraft Museum, Norfolk & Norwich Aviation Museum and at Fenland & West Norfolk Aircraft Preservation Society.
